Put a lime in the coconut at this funky hangout in the heart of De Pijp. It’s housed in a hollowed-out art deco cinema from the 1920s, which makes for a guaranteed ‘woweeee’ moment when you first enter the building and look up at all of those criss-crossing mezzanines and staircases. I’m still expecting to find David Bowie and a stripey baby crawling around in there some day. Décor wise, it’s all airy scandi-chic, pale wood, hanging plants and bean bags, making it a very pleasant spot indeed for a long lazy brunch or lunch.
As the name suggests, they take both their coffee and their coconuts pretty seriously, with regularly changing beans on the grinder and a yummy selection of fresh coconuts and coconutty drinks. My tipple of choice is the Harry Nilsson – ask for it with a shot of rum if you’re feeling naughty.
