This is our current local, and honestly one of our favourite pubs in Amsterdam. Tucked away on a pretty Haarlemmerbuurt side street between Brouwersgracht and Haarlemmerdijk it’s the kind of place where everyone knows your name (or they will do by the end of the evening), and they’re always glad you came. The epitome of the Dutch word ‘gezellig’, De Oranjerie is a traditional ‘brown’ bar, filled with art deco details, high walls lined with old theatre posters and a mixed crowd of oldies, hipsters, locals and students.
There’s a massive selection of Belgian beers, a fine choice of board games (we’ve spent many an evening here playing draughts or Scrabble over a few drinks), music from the original 1950s jukebox and plenty of tables and cosy seating nooks. Oh, and it’s open until 3am at weekends (1am midweek) so you can literally spend the whole night there. We’ve brought lots of visitors here and everyone has loved it just as much as we do, so I’m sure that you will too!
