Many of you will have heard of De School as the successor of legendary Amsterdam club Trouw. But it’s much more than just a nightclub. The former school building way out in Amsterdam West is also a restaurant, bar, cafe, concert venue, exhibition space and a gym.
The 700 capacity subterranean club is located in the school’s former bike storage and has a 24 hour licence. But a word of warning. Actually, two words of warning. First, club nights tend to sell out way in advance so if you already know which weekend you’re visiting Amsterdam, take a look at the line-up and get your tickets early. Secondly, the club operates one of those door policies, with a tendency to turn people away if they feel like you don’t fit the night. So just don’t be a dick and try not to look like a tourist.
Away from the club, the building also includes a 200 capacity gig venue, a lovely outdoor courtyard that’s open all year round to everyone, and a top restaurant, Restaurant DS, with a changing menu.
